Before yes but now I rely on a software to ease the brightness coming from the screen. It can be downloaded right here http://www.stereopsis.com/flux/. Its worth it.

Open the program change the settings to which brightness you like. After sunset it begins to dim the screen automatically and only when the software runs. does not open by itself so you have to open it or place the program at start up folder.

Nope. There's actually no concrete evidence that shows that long-term exposure to computer monitors is harmful to your eyes.

Dear friend, I do mostly have spectacles. Moreover I used have a protective glass, but later I took it away as there was not much clarity for the picture I view through it.

Hello, Yes I have protecting glass mounted on my monitor. The purpose of these glasses is to polarize the electron beam that is emitted from the monitor. The CRT or the cathode ray tube works by projecting tiny electron beams on the CRT screen. This screen has a material called aquadag which gets illuminated while the electrons hit the screen. Now these beams are unpolarized, meaning has vibration in all direction which potentially harms our eyes. This can be avoided by polarizing it before it reaches the eyes. This can be done by placing a polarizer in between the eyes and the screen. It can either be a protective screen or special purpose spectacles. God bless you

I use photo chromatic glasses which diffuse the light on my monitor. Even if your eyesight is normal you can buy a pair of glasses with 0 number.
