Why yahoo is at No. 2 and google at No.1

I have one email id on yahoo.com which i made few years back and have some friends there but when i try and make new friends and ask for their chat id then 90% of them give me there google id instead of yahoo i ask them the reason and they say interm of features and quality of vioce google is far better then yahoo. I have not yet used google but as huge number of people keep praising for this i think it must be having something which keeps it at top spot. Apart from worlds best search engine it has many advanced feature on messanger. I still dont understand why yahoo can not match google. Despite of huge earning why cant it rovide their user something which make them stick to it and even attract new users.
