I have an upper belly piercing and I love it! But since I just got it recently and I dont want it to get infected I need to clean it more. I knwo that my piercer said to use soft soaps and then preceeded to lista few that were good. The only one I remeber was Dove and that he said any SOFT SOAP would be fine and unharmful. So for all of you out there who ahev done this or had an issue can I use the following soap: Dial anibacterial hand soap (moisturizing enriched with soothing aloe)? The back of teh bottle says: Washin hands with Dial Antibacterial Hand Soap removes dirt and germs with a gentle formulation mild enough for teh whole fmily. It sounds fine right? I justdont ahev any soap on hand and dont exactly have money in the budget for more soap other than what Ive already bought in bulk, you know? Thanks guys. :) Any helpful responses are welcome and are appreciated as soon as possible! :)

Dove should be fine. Also, most piercers sell something called H2Ocean (or something similar to it) so if you didn't get any when you got your piercing, I recommend getting some. You can use this to clean your piercing a few times a day (especially after sweating & showering) and do soaks with. All you do is put some of the H2Ocean (which is pretty much sea salt water) on a cloth, warm it up for a few seconds in the microwave, and leave it on the piercing for a few minutes. It draws out all of the bacteria :) oh also, it's usually pretty cheap. When I got my belly button pierced it cost me about $8 for a decent sized bottle that I can use for any & all piercings and I get free refills.

Wow, thanks for the advice and product suggstion. Now, is it H2OCean or H2OClean or H2Ocean? And can you only buy it from your peircer. because I dont know about where you get yours done but in my city there arnt any independant piercing places, just tatoo parlors that offer it. Or is there a department store such as Walmart that offer it? Do you think I should consult a doctor ro piercer before using it?

My 21 yr old old has a belly button piercing, subdermal nape piercing, a septum piercing and 2 pelvic bone piercings. Also ear lobe and ear cartilage piercings/gages. She always uses Dial Antibacterial Soap AND also, her piercer has her rinse her piercings with a homemade solution of distilled water and sea salt. She said it has always worked good for her.

Wow, thats a lot of piercings. Has she ever gotten it infected or hurt or anyhing abnormal? Ill try the Dial one since it seems that people on mylot think itll work fine. I know my one friend used that sea salt and water solution thing in a film canister on her belly button but because my piercer didnt mention it, Im not going to use it yet. I might call him and make sure but that is kind of difficult sionce hes quite busy and they're only open at certain times. Since your daughter has had so many piercings and experience in this kind of thing and tehrefore you have sort of too) do I use a cloth? Or just rub it in there and rinse it out really, REALLY well. And how do I know if its out enough yet? Thaks for all the help. :)

Her belly button one did get infected early one but she blamed herself saying she had been working a lot of hours and not tending it as often or well as she knew she should have. None of her others got infected ever. They are all healed now. Her pelvic bone ones grew up and OUT of her skin though so now she took took those out and she has a scar on each pelvic area. I honestly don't know if she used a cloth but I did see her POUR the solution on her belly before, I dont know if she dabbed or wiped it afterwards or not. She said of all her piercing the nose septum (way up high inside her nose in the septum not on the bottom) hurt the most, she said she almost passed out. You are most welcome, i am glad I could help. : )

Yeah that sounds fine in my opinion. I think that it being antibacterial is a good thing. I think Dove has been suggested because it is more creamy than soap which can be quite drying.

Just had a thought. When I got my ears pierced when I was little my Mam had to clean them with surgical spirit (I think). Would that not work?

Thats kind of why Im asking because my piercer said that I shouldnt use anything like alchohol or poly sporin or anything like that. Im not sure what surgical spirit is but is it anything like those products? Im going to try this stuff and really hope nothing going wong such as an infection or it healing wrong or weird (although I dont know how that can happen). Thanks for your help its really appreciated. :)

Hi. artsyfartsgypsy. I think that you should use Soft Soap as your piercer has told you too. It must be a reason why they mentioned this type of hand soap to you. I have never heard of a person using Hand Soap to clean an belly piercing out though. I guess maybe because of its purity, I guess.
