On Branding Muslims as Anti-Socials..............

Recently I came across an article that tells us about the contribution of internet to the civilization. I was pained to find a statement "there is hate spewing madrassa in some eastern hellhole which can now spread Koranic evil world wide." It is really sorrowful that some mean minded self proclaimed intellectuals brand any religion as a cult of Terrorists and Militants whose sole aim is to destroy any thing constructive. Such beliefs contradicts our impression of the western world, the most developed flank of this civilization. All out war against terrorists is required but there are also other ways to win this war such as spread love and nip the militants in the bud (remember nobody is a born terrorist) http:/www.scragged.com/articles/scragged-accepts-the-internets-nobel-peace-prize-nomination.aspx?cc=1#cc

The above response is a perfect example of how the media perpetuates these same stereotypes. If we are constantly seeing reports of Muslim terrorists the picture gets imprinted in our minds that Islam is synonymous with terrorism. When in fact these acts that are being reported on are being committed in several nations on a day to day basis by NON Muslim groups. I am not saying there isn't an existence of terrorists who use Islam as their basis, but this same idea existed when Jim Jones used Christianity to his benefit, and led thousands to their deaths. An act of terrorism, is it not? It would seem our modern media (government controlled media) is attempting to defame Islam in general and delude the masses into believing that anything associated with Islam is also associated with terrorist groups. When the fact is that Islam has existed for thousands of years, even before these "terrorists" came into play. With this in mind it is easy to see how any religion could be used as a scapegoat if used in the right context. We could say Buddhists are terrorists because they refuse to slaughter cattle. Show constant reports of Buddhist practitioners not eating hamburgers and somehow label them as evil. I mean, as ridiculous as it sounds, if fed to the public constantly, we might actually start to believe it. This practice was employed in another great time of our history, if you can recall. During the time of Hitler's rise to power, it was commissioned that propaganda be spread on a constant basis, claiming the Jewish people were evil. We all know were that led... The same indoctrination is being practiced today with Islam in the media!!!

Bottom line is Islam does not condone terrorism or teach terrorism. Terrorists do that. Sometimes the are religious extremists, and yes sometimes they are Muslim, or at least claim te banner of Islam. There are also those that are Christian fanatics. The Catholic Church's stance on child molestation has been terrorist in nature. Sometimes it's a lone nut in a tree in the woods, or sometime it's even a corrupt politician(s) who orchestrate terror fake terror attacks in order to fuel sentiments for war, and claiming foreign oil profits..

True that terrorism is simply a very vast subject with many many facets. There can be many instances where terrorist activities are inconspicuous and masked by legal activities. For example forced child labor, many molestation cases, marital violence, infanticide are all instances of terrorism. Thus, terrorism is not region or religion specific but is as omni-present as God.

You're right, this is really unfair. Of course, there are Muslim terrorists, but that does not make Muslims anti-social. The vast majority of Muslims all over the world are good, normal, law abiding people just like anyone else. Terrorism is a global problem, not confined to Muslims alone. Putting a religious tag on a global problem is a big mistake.

The militants and terrorists are gleaning their inspiration from the sequestered pool of obsolete literature at some places in Koran. One of these is the writings on Jihad, "the holy struggle or striving by a Muslim for a moral or spiritual or political goal". Jihad is a Koranic evil in the true sense. The custodians of the religion must take steps to remove such inflammatory text from the Holy books. They must brand and condemn those who profess themselves Muslims as terrorists.

In the actual context, Jihad was carried out against fabled demons, by self anointed priests of the disintegrating Muslim brotherhood. I don't see Jihad as a Koranic evil, but a distortion of a highly valued theory, that is best interpreted is unite and fight against unjust and insolent might. Regarding custodians of religion taking the matter in their own hand..what could the Pope do when some obstinate U.S. solider committed some horrific war crimes in post-war Iraq. The truth is that the Religious installations in the modern world are either unable to or don't have the guts to take action against such exploitation of their beliefs

Yes, indeed, such hollow propaganda and false assurance of attaining salvation through Jihad is the main reason behind. The innocent kind are misled by the apostles of violence to be butchered and killed in name of God. Thanks for your comment.

Dear friend, this is a very complicated topic and a very sensitive one. Here i will share my personal opinion about what i think about this topic. Please make it a not that, am not going to point at any religion. am just trying to explain my thoughts. We must first ask a question to ourself, why are muslims in general being branded as Anti-socials?? The answer to the question is right in front of you. Evereday we come across news of terrorist attacks all around the world. If we all have noticed, almost 99% of those attacks are carried out by muslim people. Doesn't that give an answer to your question?? That doesn't mean all muslims are terrorists. And the fact is, there are so many muslims in this world who can overshadow their fellow community members by their good work for the society. But the general perception of people goes with majority. If we see that majority of the people of a certain religion are making news everyday by killing other innocent people, its them who are to be blamed for spoiling the name of their religion and not those who brand that particular religion as anti-socials. Why are people branded as anti-socials, that is because, they or majority of them have been involved in anti social activities??

My response to this message is as follows. your quote "99% of all Muslims are terrorists", while there exist many-many-many non-Islam violent organizations, such as Mafia, Maoists, several Separatist groups etc. who are not Muslim. Another point, those that have self-anointed themselves as Jihadis are in fact, declared a pariah to their own kind. In Pakistan, the no of Pakistanis dying due to terrorist attacks are many times more than the wests' casualties. So if a country is harboring some terrorist outfit, then in the longer run, it is going to harm itself. Also, don't you think that West' attitude towards Middle-east has resulted in soring of recruitment rate into the ranks of this killer-cult whose sole purpose is destruction and only destruction.
