Singing songs with a different langauge

Hi everyone! Does anyone sing a song of a different language even if you don't know that it means? Me, my native language is Filipino and my second language is English. However, I love foreign music and I sing songs of different languages. Aside from Filipino and English songs, I also sing Japanese, Latin, and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) songs too. Honestly, I only know a few words of these languages and I barely understand the whole song. But I really love the music and I can even memorize the correct lyrics even if I don't know what they mean. So, do you like singing songs of other languages too? Do you understand them or do you simply like them because you like the tune? Is it easy for you to memorize the correct lyrics even if it's a foreign language and you don't understand a single thing? Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

In my vocal ensemble class, I personally learned quite a few songs in different languages. My native language is Englis, and I speak some Spanish. I've learned songs in Thai, Italian, Spanish, German, Latin, as well as Hebrew and Russian. Some of the songs I understand, because we spent time learing both what it was we were singing, and the background of the song. Some we didnt get a chance to. Besides that,I know a few songs in Japaneese and Korean, because one of my friends when I was in the Army got me hooked on a band and she taught me the words to the songs....but I dont know the meaning unless I look up the lyrics online hahaa. I've taught myself a lot of songs that are in german, and am teaching myself german at the moment.....gradually. One of my favorite bands is a German rock band (Rammstein) They are the reason why I want to learn how to fluently speak/read/write German. I love singing in different languages, even if I dont understand a word I'm singing unless I look it up. Forign languages are beautiful to me, and its always fun to sing in them.

Thanks for your response! Wow, that is amazing! Those are many languages. It must be fun to know songs from different countries because you also get to learn from their language. The closest I got to the German language was watching two German films. I totally agree that foreign languages are beautiful. I recently am wanting to learn Russkiy.

In my early teen years, I love to sing along with Japanese, Korean, and Chinese songs. It's not hard to memorize the lyrics, whenever I listen to them over and over again, I get to memorize them easily. I studied Japanese language and I don't feel stupid anymore while singing along with Japanese songs. Even if I can't still understand Korean and Chinese songs, there are always translation on the internet. I love these Asian songs because of the tune, so catchy! I don't actually care about the lyrics. LOL.

Thanks for your response! Wow, that's cool! You got to study Japanese I've been studying basics year by year since I was 11. I really don't have the time to do so but I hope I learn the language someday. Yes, Asian songs truly are nice. Even if we don't understand some of them, the tune is really nice.

My mentor said that the key to learning the language is determination! I got so determined because I was obsessed to a Japanese singer at that time. And yes, the tune is really nice, the tune is addictive. By the way, thanks for the best response.

Hello EnslinPorter, I understand what you mean, because in my cellphone, I have a Korean Song, which I don't really understand but loves listening to. It's a song from the Korean Novela Boys over Flower. It has been playing in my phone for more than a month now. . I don't really memorize the lyrics I just love listening to it. And I tried looking for an English translation of the song in the net and good thing I found one, I read and I like the message.

Oh sure! Is kind of funny when you learn a song that isn't your natural language. And it is also a way to learn another idiom that you don't know. By learning to sing and so know what are you singing, and so you're learning another idiom without notice.

Hi! Thanks for your response. That sure is true. I've learned some bits about different language's informal speech because of the songs.
