I color eggs with my Sunday School class and Wed night children and I am always amazed at the number of children that have never colored eggs before. One year when I told our pastor's daughter, she was my helper, that we were coloring eggs next week she thought I met with a crayon! She was an adult now, and had never colored eggs before. We always have a Saturday get to gether and color at grandma's for Easter every year. I love coloring eggs with kids. But my daugternlaw had never colored eggs before they got married. Her mother always did it after they went to bed because she didn't want the mess. So how about you...do you color eggs with the kids?

I have always decorated eggs, and although I don't have kids now, I will decorate Easter Eggs with them. It's a fun tradition that I always have enjoyed. In fact, I might have to decorate them with my husband this year! I remember so many times standing in the kitchen with my mom and sister the night before Easter decorating the eggs and then waking up in the morning to find them hidden all around our living room. It's a tradition that will always be a part of my family!

Thank You for your response. We have set Good Friday as our day to color eggs, we will have lunch together too, it looks like I will have all of my kids and grandkids(10). It was just my mom and I to decorate the eggs when I was little. I remember her telling me when they were children (she was born in 1912) that to color eggs they would wrap the eggs in colored rags and boil them for colors. No egg dyes back then. I just bought the dyes tonight and we are coloring them tomorrow at church with the kids.

I used to help out at my son's school and egg painting was always very popular with the kids. All the children were involved and some of them were amazingly creative with their decoration

Thank you for your response. Yes, the older children do try to be more creative. I just love the coloring.
