How many of you were spanked or given physical disciplinary action as a child? Do you feel that it is important to rear your child in order to condition them into knowing what is bad or good. It is hard for a young child to figure out what is bad or good and if they are conditioned through operant conditioning, such as giving the child a prize for being good or spanking them for being bad. I personally was spanked as a child and as long as the beating is not torture or extreme child abuse it should be acceptable, as it is not good if the child grows up to be spoiled. Through my own observation and what is often portrayed in the media it seems to me that white parents do not spank their children as much, for fear of being called on by protective services. What in your opinion is the best way to raise a child? Spank or not to spank, that is the question.
