Hi Nangisha, Thank you for your response, Yes, I know that Windows is easy to use, but its cost much, the only stable in Windows OS is the Windows XP Pro, and it is already face-out in the market. linux is great, I'm getting a hang of it, Linux is good for an IT Student like me.. :D

hi, I like to use Windows though i like Linux. The reason is most of the work i do need Msoffice and window OS application. Even though i can use such application in Linux i can not make it compatable to open in windows OS. I havent used linux but as it is free and geniune test are not necessary it is my preferred one. Windows maintainance is very expensive. Linux has differ versions Redhat,Ubuntu and Sco linux which i heard. There are also some versions which are very user friendly like Windows Os. For documents you can use a open office software which is similar to office and works like that. It is good to try once and know yourself as its not so difficult to use.

Hi Raj_ka, Thanks for your response. Like you said, Linux has many versions and its all free, but the only hard thing is I don't know what version to use, as of now I'm testing the Ubuntu Linux, You can save your file in openoffice as a .doc file so you can open it in MSOffice.

Hi Nautilus33, Thanks for your response, I also started as a windows user, but as of now I'm starting to use the Linux, I can tell that Linux is much more functional than Windows, although most software is created on Windows based because 70% of the world use Windows in their computer, and as of Linux, 10% - 20% of the world use Linux,.. Tnx.

Hi, I prefer to use Linux. There are many distributions. My favorite one is Ubuntu. You can do all of your staffs with Ubuntu. Theme, GUI is perfect, comparable to Windows 7. Using Ubuntu is simple. There are many application for free to use such as Open Office (just like Windows Office suite), vlc player, Firefox, pidgin(messenger client for Yahoo, AOL, ICQ etc), Gimp for Photoshop replacement. I cannot list this huge list. Just use it, so you will enjoy how it is really simple and powerful enough. Sorry for my bad english

I'm prefer Linux for doing a office job. No worry about viruses. For games, linux maybe not better than windows OS. How to use linux: 1. Go to distrowatch.com 2. Choose distro that you want. For newbies you can choose : ubuntu (shipit free), mandriva, pclinuxos, opensuse, simplymepis, fedora, etc. 3. You must have a internet connection for update or install software. If not, you can download/buy DVD repository. 4. For linux 32 bit can run in 32&64 bit computer system. For Linux 64 bit only in 64 bit computer system. 5. For hardware, most of all autodetect. If not detected you can find in repository or package manager through internet. 6. if all detected enjoy!!! ;-) For games there are repository called "DJL".. list game from A-Z for linux.

I have never considered using Linux as I have used Windows since I have been suing computers. I am using a laptop that has Windows 7 on it, and it is a very secure operating system. My desktop has xp on it and I don't like it as well as I do Windows 7. I resally don't use the desktop anyway, so I am getting good use from my Windows 7 laptop. I am glad that I bought it, and I hope to use it for a very long time. Take care, and have a very good day.

No one can really say which is better as its really just up to everyone interpretation of the product. many people like linux cause its for free, safe, secure, its a quick booting time, but it doesnt run many windows programs and may be hard to understand. where as windows is less safe, runs most programs and slower. i have both installed on my laptop cuz i cant choice:L
