I lost my online friend

Today I received an email from the husband of one of my online friends. He told me that my friend had died of cancer, and I am feeling really sad right now. We have been friends for 4 years, but we have never met.
In a way I am surprised that it affects me that much, because I have never actually met her, but we have shared a lot of things and we have helped and supported eachother. I am shocked, but at the same time, I somehow knew that something was wrong, because I hadn't heard from my friend for several months and we used to write eachother quite often.

im sorry to hear what happened. my condolences. ive never really went as far as what you guys had. i usually invite people as friends on networking sites but that s it. i message them once in a while. you had something different. i take it s something deep that someone like me wouldnt understand so you have to keep those memories you have of her and never forget her as a person you have shared this deep connection with.

I have not experience this yet. i hope nothing like this will happen to my online friends though we can never tell our fate when is the time for us to die. let's just be prepared!

Thank you. Yes, I try to focus on the happy memories and the things that we shared. We always confided in eachother and she helped me several times, I will never forget that. I am sad, but I am also grateful for the friendship that we had.

she will still look out for you up there. she will surely be in your heart and whatever positive things your friendship brought in you then keep it and share it to your friends too. she will be happy that she made you a better person too!

Hi, Porcospino. No, I have never lost an online friend before. And, I am sure that it is very hard to if you are in a situation as this. There is one friend from myLot that I have not heard from in a long time either. Probably at least a year now. And, I hope that she is doing okay. We just never know what can be wrong when we don't hear from another friend as often. I am sorry for your loss.

oh so sorry to hear that. please extend my condolences to her family. its so sad that you lost a friend. but in your case that you never met her i feel more so bad, because you don't have a chance to face each other or experience on how to talk in real. but for me i never experience this. just think that she is in good hands now and resting in a place called "heaven".

I feel for you... i know how hard it is to lose a dear friend. Even though you are just online friends i know and can feel how deep your friendship is. I will be praying for this friend of yours too. I may not know him but my prayer goes to all who passed away and for all who lost a dear friend too...

Thank you. I also felt that we were had a deep friendship where we were able to share a lot of things. She helped me when I went to through some bad things in my life, and I did the same for her when she needed someone to confide in or someone to ask for advice.

I'm sorry to hear that. Even if you haven't met definitely you will really be affected because you had been sharing a lot for a long time already. You had developed a special bond and we know that having that kind of friendship is not easy to find.
In my case I only have 1 special online friend and so far she's in a good situation now. I hope I won't lose her before we meet.

Sorry to say that you have lost a online friend,that too from mylot,really i am also feeling sorry to hear this news,these type of news will give some rememberence of that missing friends,her way of talking and participating in mylot,but it is more good that her husband was informed the news to you,that your friend is no more,hats off to your four year online friendship

May your friend rest peacefully. I have one too.Weve been friends for five years but when I decided to go work abroad, which had make me so busy, I lost my communication with him and until now, I dont have any idea on how to look for him again.

I would not know but I would feel pity for them. Yes online friends can affect you when they die, just as if they were a real friends. The more the time you spend together the more your affected.
