LIGHTNING Hit a house less than a block away!!!!

We had a thunderstorm move in just about midnight. I had just gone to bed and gotten all cozy when the rain and wind really picked up dramtically. I was about to doze off when there was a HUGE bank and bright light lit up my whole bedroom! I was abit scared thinking that it might have hit a tree in my backyard. When I got up to check, I saw that a house less than a block away, like 6 houses down had been hit on the roof and it looked like flames were coming out. I called 911 but they had already received other calls and I found out that there was no one living there right now. The fire department came and were able to put out the small fire. It hadn't gotten bad since there was the heavy rain coming down but it was good they came since it could have spread inside. Of course with all the excitement, my cats were hiding safely under my bed and I was watching the action from my front living room window. This is the first time in my life that I have ever been near where lightning hit!! I still can't get over how loud it was and thankfully no one was home. That house is a rental and I know that there are new tenants due next month. Hopefully they'll be able to fix everything by then. My nerves are just settling down now and I will get some rest before I start my Monday. Have you ever had lightning strike near you?
