Ever been contagious and have to stay at home and miss things?

Ever been contagious and have to stay at home and miss things? i have now! usually when i get sick its nothing but something that IS NOT contagious but first my husband got it then gave it to me and he went to the doctor before me and they said he was contagious and not to leave the house for X amount of days.. i didnt go to the doc since it was the exact same thing he had and those X amount of days meant missing a visit from a friend from another state i dont even see once a year!
i was so mad because the doc said the cold/virus wouldnt get better with antibiotics so you would have to rough it out and i take longer to heal and i hate being stuck at the house knowing i cant leave! then missing my friends visit just really made it worse..
i felt like some one in the old days where you were quarantined to your house because of whatever disease but i wasnt going to be mean and go out into the public and pass this on! after all some one was inconsiderate enough (well i shouldnt say that because maybe they couldnt afford to miss work) to have been around the office and make most of the office sick which he brought to me..
ever been sick and stuck at home and not allowed to be around anyone? did it ever kill your long awaited plans? if you think you know who gave it to you are you mad that they put you at risk?

I agree with earlier view that a few days of rest will prevent the virus from spreading.At certain times it is us who are at the receiving end i.e being a victim of virus.At others we pass on the virus.Though its infuriating to the person to be out of circulation i feel its a must to take rest for a few days to avoid spreading the virus.

Hey moonlit! That is exactly the problem! When someone knows
that they are sick they go to work and spread that virus around
and that's how everyone else gets sick! Since no one is ever
"allowed" to miss work this is how everything gets started and
spread! I do know how it feels! I have had the same problem
many times! Unfortunately, it is true that there are no meds
for most viruses and once you are infected you can continued
to spread them which only makes matters worse for everyone! And
since everyone that does get sick is so afraid to stay home from
work for the fear of getting fired this is just how viruses
spriral out of control and then more people end up sick and
end up staying out of work even longer! Hence the stupidity of
the work/sickness rules!

i wish jobs at least doubled their sick days allowed or maybe gave extra with a doc's note or something..

I think about 6 months ago. I got sick, and it's flu a like. My boss told me to stay home and come back when my doctor give letter stating that "I'm not Contagious" anymore. Those days swine flu is a big hit, even I didn't get it, but I end up stay at home for about 8 days.

yeah my husband had a cold or something for like 3 months and everyone at work freaked and started wearing masks and wanted him to give a letter saying he wasnt contagious.. of course his too was during the swine flu panic too

strep is like the only thing i have never had.. which is odd since my immune system is crap!! i guess i better knock on wood now lol
