In the bible, i've noticed that people before live a longer period of time. Elizabeth even gave birth at the age of 80..the common age reaches 100 and beyond and still they are healthy and strong. But look at us now, people live shorter and die younger. If we could only live forever, i just can't imagine the earth becoming overpopulated or it's gravity/weight would be distorted. :) I really can't imagine. Can you imagine?

Actually, its because of the fact that the human race was cursed way back during the Adam and Eve Times because of their disobedience to God.Since then, people started to feel pain, hurt and all of these that we are currently experiencing, not to mention also, the things such as climates that were changed after the Great Flood. Yes, people in the old times lived longer compared today. But let's come to think of it. In their times, there were still no pollution-causing machines and technologies. People tend to eat healthily because of the lack of processed foods. People were not indulging in pain-staking and over-stressing activities that speeds up aging. Also they don't have the lifestyles that can promote or increase the incidence of diseases and illnesses we have now. And to add to the question, why can't we live forever?: actually, we can. Only if we accept the offer that the God who created us is giving us for free. Yes, in this world, we can't live forever. But we can still live and experience eternity, only, when we trust and succumb to the Giver of life.

hi, wow! perfectly said. Our environment really is a big factor in contributing to the damage of our cells, as the basic unit of life. A destruction (reversible or irreversible), really has an impact to our cell-tissue-organ-system...if we could only take good care of our environment, be mindful of the food we eat and etc, then we might live longer.

I think ages goven in the bible can be atributed to losing things in translation. Palentological study shows people way back when lived much shorter time then we do today. In a way, im glad....how crowded would we be if people were really living hundreds of years and all having dozens of children.
