Do you use a fake name for your user name?

I don't get the point, why people use fake names rather than their names for the usernames.

It is highly recommended that one should not give their real names specially in forums. It gives access to all personal information about oneself which is not quite safe. Even in my blog I have not revealed my real name for the same reason.

Once you have selected a user name here you cannot change it unless may be you delete it and restart which in your case is not much of a loss as you have just started! But do not tell anyone about the new change.

I use a fake name because sometimes people go too far with privacy. I don't like people knowing my real name because sometimes when information is given, people go too far. I like that I can give my opinion and help others and hide behind a name that no body can touch. I feel secure that way. Call me crazy but it helps keep my identity :)
