How do you feel when your water supply gets disrupted?

mirage - The availability of water is somewhat similar to this in our locality.

This is quite a phenomenon in my locality.Every now and then the water supply gets disrupted and then the locals are left to the mercy of fate.Specially during the summer the matter gets much more worse as it is very hot and sultry. After experiencing such disruptions I decided to have a submersible pump however even that is not helping me much as the water level reduced below. We have to buy drinking water at a high price and though the local municipal representative tries his best to supply water yet a lot remains to be done.Did you experienced such water crisis? What you did to overcome it?

Hi Naxous, The situation is much frustrated indeed. We had experienced the same problems in few years back. We were in the second floor of a house and getting the water in upstairs was very difficult and suffered a lot. The house owner also said we are helpless and the whole colony faced the problem. In summer water distribution is not regular in most of the places in the city and we can’t even think about a day without water then how can we manage days without water. Fortunately, the place we live now is not facing any problem. But the locality is facing problem with water distribution in some blocks. I know very well if the water distribution stops or disrupted.

The people in the colony here called up the ‘Jal Board’ and they distributed the water in their vehicles as a temporary solution. The people gathered in the place and have given written complaint for finding a solution to the local politicians and other important people. I hope you can also solve the problem by this way.

Sorry srikala I don't think that your suggestion of submitting a written complaint to the local politicians will do any good as we tried to do that several times and each time what we received is assurance from them and when the matter became worse we can't find them anywhere nearby. However the usage of mobile water supply vans is a good idea and definitely I will give it a try after consulting my fellow residents maybe that can give us relief to a certain extent. Thanks for your advise.

I can't go out anywhere to fetch water as the situation is pathetic in the entire locality which extends a few kilometeres.Besides even if I do move out there is no guarantee that I will get water suitable for drinking and doing other things. Our only hope now is mineral water and we are try to use it economically. That's the best that we can do at this point of time.

Hi Naxous, Good day! I'd go crazy if I'll be in this situation. I can't imagine life without water. The worst I've experienced was when we did not have any water supply for almost three days. We were able to stock some water in large drums because we were notified earlier about the disruption. However, it was not enough to last for three days. We learned the value of water because of that incident. After that I have not experienced the same thing again. Sometimes we have water disruptions for at least thrice a year but it usually just lasts in 2 - 12 hours.

Friend you are fortunate that you had been notified before about the disruption while with us we came to know about the fact only after experiencing it.Indeed life is a mess without water and we are experiencing it right now. However,we want to get rid of this problem once and for all so we, the residents will do whatever is needed to solve this issue.

I think it's not right when the people in the community is not notified if ever there will be a ny type of disruption (water, telecommunication, eletricity, etc.) As consumers it is our right to know when these things happen. This will also allow us to be prepared. I can't imagine my self in the middle of my shower and then suddenly the water runs out. I'd not be able to forgive them espeially if I am still unable to wash off the soap and shampoo in my hair. Grrrr!!!!

yes, i m also facing the problem of water scarcity in my apartment along with 14 other families. this because the water level has gone down and there is no water coming from submersible pump too. we are trying to bye water from local water suppliers. moreover i along with my neighbors have arranged a small tank inside my home. when water is filled in the roof tank of the apartment, we all are filling our individual tanks build inside our homes and use it miserly throught out the day. thus our water problem is solved a little. also i m encouraging my neighbors to go for water recharge, which will help us all in coming future days.

I really feel bad when something like that happens. i mean water is very much basic needs for all of us. Specially in our case we live in a tropic country where in summer it gets pretty hot indeed and we need to take a bath every now and then, although for some its a prefference, when water supply is disrrupted then all these activities will be if not halted then delayed. Can you just imagine not being able to take a shower when you feel all itchy and sticky due to the hot weather?

Water is important not only in Phillipines friend but everywhere and everywhere the picture is the same..you are talking about crops and aquatic lives even people are suffering terribly due to the lack of water.Doesn't it sounds odd that even after reaching the 21st century we have no other option but to depend upon rain to bring relief..but that's how the way it is at the present moment. My problem won't be solved even if it rains heavily so can you suggest any remedy to get rid of this terrible situation that I am in right now please?

You better start taking precautions from now onwards otherwise you will face the same problem that I am encountering right now.Why don't you dig up a well? That will help you to tide over extreme conditions.

No water supply? That will be the worst, that's what I thought. I can't live without it. We are lucky here in our place that we don't have any problems with water shortage. This is a wake up call for every one, we really should conserve water.

I never thougt I would find such a discussion. I experienced water crisis for the first time in this week. our underground supply dried up. It is feeling horrible and I dont have words to explain this in detail. I feel anyone can understand how one would feel if water is not available.

I live in Canada where there is lots of water but during heavy rainy seasons our water supply becomes polluted. I am in a rural area and pay heavily for our water supply which is also metered. It is frustrating to have to boil drinking water in a country with so much.

Water scarcity has been threatening all over the world in highly populated cities. We mostly depend upon the ground water resources in our city. But may not be sufficient in future. The irony is the earth is has more than 60% of the surface filled with water but we still starve for water.Only the advancing science can can show us a way out.

Unfortunately the scientists seems to be preoccupied with inventing other things and the administration is reluctant to give relief to the citizens.Yeah I agree with you that there is scarcity of water all round the globe but isn't there any method of providing water to the people which is a basic neccessity and who do you think is to be blamed for this leniancy?

a disturbance in water supply is a very big headache for the people especially for the housewives who need water for their daily chores. not only housewives the other members of the family also face trouble for the day, we cannot do our daily chores as per time and everything in our schedule gets disturbed greatly. presently we are in a sort of crisis ourselves and in this time it is best to fill all the buckets and other container with water when we get some so that we can use that water for a later use when there is no water for our use.
