What do girls think is the best way for a guy to approach them?

Do pick up lines work? Or should a guy just genuinely approach a girl and start a conversation? Some girls say that just saying "Hi" is better than trying up pull a pick up line on them. What does a guy have to do in order for him to attract a girl?

People this days are like they want to be someone else their not, in approaching a girl for me just saying hi is alright ,I mean you don't need any pick up line to start a conversation, just ask anything and everything will follow through, just like the guy saying above just be yourself and try not to be to cool or swaggerish because sometimes girls misunderstand you and they would think that your a cocky one and that. Just be gentle let the girl know you don't mean any harm, just a conversation is all you need.

I believe that at least one commonality can be found between two individuals if they try. A person needs to know how to communicate with a girl. Often times there are guys who are just shy and have a hard time talking to girls. It takes confidence for a guy to go up to a random girl and start up a conversation with them. There is a fine line between confident and cocky. Cocky people are people who flaunt their skills and are showy, whereas confident people have faith in their abilities but can also be humble. Being gentle is also my style, like a gentlemen. Then again, I'm just myself and am accidentally goofy and weird. I seem to have some sense of humor which I think is one of the most important things and often sought characteristic that girls are looking for.
