Point of marking best reponse or positively or negatively rating a post?

What is the point of making those distinctions between posts of different individuals? Is it so that those other individuals can benefit? I cannot see how we ourselves can benefit from clicking positive, negative, or best response for other people. We do not earn any money correct from clicking one of those things?

It's to show that we appreciate the conversation and responses given. The bad thing is, you and I can't hit positive or negative until we have posted 100 responses. Just my two cents! :)

Really? I've never tried. Thank you for the explanation. I will give people the best response where it is due in my own discussion threads, just so I can differentiate on who is actually thinking and who is just writing nonsense. Toodalooh.

No problem. I'm still learning the ways of myLot as I go and that's just one of the many. I appreciate the best response :). As far as best responses go, the staff at myLot suggests we wait about a week before marking a best response. I mention that because I've started a couple discussions and on one of them I didn't wait that week. After I had marked the best response, I got a few more responses and they deserved best response as well. Figured you could use the tip. I hope you like it here and happy mylotting!

Another thing I forgot to add is that it helps people to feel like they are doing a good job here at myLot too. Make sure to check out the FAQ's as well and they'll help paint a good picture as to the reasons for this kind of stuff: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq8.aspx#16 http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx#1 http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx

Well, if you're here for the money then you don't have to bother doing those stuff. If you value those who respond in your discussion then you have to take note of it. It's that simple.

The value of each star also affects earnings. 'The DRS is factored into our proprietary earnings algorithm, so this will help us properly reward valuable contributions to the myLot community' http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx#1 Therefore rating others is important and if we all rate others in the same way that we hope that they will rate us, we shall be doing something else in the way that myLot advise us.

I see, I am here for Mylot for both the money and for the fun experience of meeting new people and sharing ideas. How does the number next to the star go up? I feel that it does not go up after each response or each discussion that I post. Thank you for the explanation of the star value. I will strive to reach 100 but it is difficult as Mylot do not reward me for each post I put up
