why? that's the biggest question I always get when I try to market it to people from all walks of life why are these companies paying us to click on ads? I used to work for a domain registry and hosting company that i can not name here but they are a big and respected company and i loved working there. Simple answer: your clicks drive the name recognition of the advertisers up making it easier for google or other search engines to pick it up. PTCs act like advertisers for this companies and are getting paid a certain amount to provide traffic. traffic is the number of individual or unique visitors going to a certain website on a regular basis. The more people clicking, the better for these companies which then lead to better compensation for the PTC company and in the end us, the clicker on the other end. It's very basic Business Mathematics. Of course not all are legitimate sites so you should still be careful which one to choose. Listen to the advice of those who have been doing this for a long time. Check the forums. Check the web. Google it. And then when all your questions are satisfied, click on the link of the person who made you aware of it, even if you don't know that person. At least help them out by letting them earn a bit too. :D Ok, that's all for now kiddos ps... advertise, advertise, advertise... it doesn't hurt to do so. People may turn you down but if you forge your own path and become a success and they realize it, help them out.
