I just observed that people nowadays are having hard times trusting others. It's becoming difficult to make friends as we grow old. Why is it hard to trust people? Is it a reality as we age?

I think that is the nature of getting older. We have more experiences to draw from. Some of those experiences may not be the best thing in the world. Therefore someone that we might have trusted without question when we are younger, we might not be so inclined to warm up to right away. It can take some time to gain trust, especially if we had some bad experiences. When we are much younger, there is a certain naive quality that we have. We tend to grow beyond that as we gain experiences. We find that trust is not something that we should give out too freely. Granted, there are people who get burned rather bad and thus their trust is something that is extremely hard for them to give. Age does teach us many lessons and some of those lessons are learned the hard way. It is a sad, but true element about life.

Such a profound insight...Thanks for sharing your wisdom. Btw, how old are you? (You don't really have to answer this...I'm just a bit curios.) I really appreciate your way of answering...

My previous experiences made it really hard for me to trust others. I believe it's hard to trust if you've been hurt by someone in the past

It really is true. It's harder to trust people as we go older. Here are the usual stages 1) Teenager: Crushes, Personal Life Secrets 2) Adult: Relationships/family issues 3) Adult-Senior: Financial/family issues 4) Senior: Family Issues There should be at least one person we can trust in our lives. There's always that one person you can talk to. But, some are deceiving.

I really support you - it is really difficult to move with known and unknown people,as it has become very very difficult to trust any one to be frank. Sometimes, when alone I feel myself and think in which world we are living. While doling shopping we normally go to a known person (with whom we have created the love to shop) even this person cheats and charges more. Every one has become money minded. They want to earn and earn. One wimple question - let them earn more, but finally who shall be utilizing this earnings after their "last breath." So no one is thinking that how about you.......

It might be occuring as we age. As we get older, we start thinking about what happens in world, become more realistic. We know that there are a lot of people that shouldn't be trusted, so we become less extrovert to some strangers. But there aren't real examples of trustworthy next to the family.
