Do you get the first touch on iPad?

From an online article, a person described that he has overspend over $1000 for an iPad, because he has purchase this and that of accessories. I was "wow", I thought an iPad didn't come with the accessories? A simple iPad 3G is around $499, with all the accessories need, you might overspend $1000, that is not what I am looking for. For that case, I might stick with regular Laptop, which is cheaper. Have anyone has first touch with iPad yet? How was it?

I never touch the iPad, yet. But, I will buy one of them. I already have a laptop, iPhone, and for me, own an iPad will be great because I cannot carry my 15" laptop all the time. It's heavy. So, I need a middle gadget for my mobile activity. And I think, iPad is a perfect gadget for me.
