who is a gentleman?

"the term gentleman is always in the hot list of a woman who is ready for a wedlock'. i guess i am right about the statement.sometimes i do wonder what is the exact definition of a gentleman? i myself is never been called a gentleman and specially by the ladies.i don't know why i have got this unplesant tag on me by them.but anyway, i am the lone bad guy among the ladies here. if we go to the exact definition of the term gentleman then there are a number of points or facts comes to account for this word .a man from a good family who is capable of earning money from various sources (questionable) can be called as a gentleman.but in modern days any man can be called as a gentleman without putting an exclamation mark though. so what exactly the term means to people here. and i am putting this one specially to the ladies here, what exactly the term means to them. what are the qualities in a person can make him a gentleman?... any special thought about the question is highly appreciable...
