In this senior home, you can pretend you're at the beach even if theres a snowstorm outside!! They've installed special lighting and they have sounds and wind and warmth. Most of the seniors living there say they love it and it did wonders for their arthritis! I think this is a great idea, what do you think?? http://www.montrealgazette.com/travel/Virtual+beach+lets+sunshine/2768415/story.html

Wow, this is really new technology. For several years there have been people providing sensory stimulation experiences for the disabled and for adults with dementia.(Snoezelen therapy) These rooms incorporate some of the things in your link, but adding the sun aspect has got to be the best thing ever. No wonder it helps their arthritis. It is probably very calming as well. I would venture to suspect that frequent users of this room sleep better at night as well. I say "thumbs up " to the senior living center for taking a chance on something so new a cutting edge.

Yes Ive heard of the sensory stimulation, they also use it for kids here and it works wonders. Sometimes the human brain can come up with fantastic ideas and solutions to problems. As for the beach, yes they said on tv that they sleep much better now and some are really happy since their grandchildren now go visit and bring their kids to play in the sand. So, some poor souls who didnt have anyone visiting, now do!! If only it werent so expensive so that all centers for seniors could have this, I might consider wanting to go live in one of those when the time comes.......maybe haha!! Thanks!
