Quick, recite the alphabet backwards

Were you able to do it quickly off the top of your head? Apparently, reciting the alphabet backwards is one of the tests they use to check if you are drunk when you have been pulled over. Do you think it is a fair test? I really doubt if a lot of sober people can do it at the spur of the moment without having to think it through and, perhaps, do it piecemeal, part of it at a time.
