What does it mean when windows says "virtual memory too low"? Is there something I am doing that is making this happen?

your downloaded programs have overcrowded your pc....you need to remove some unwanted things from it...that will make some space free on your pc...and also increase the speed and working capacity of your computer....for this you will have to go to control panel...there u go to add or remove programs option...and then you will get the full list of programs working on your pc....remove some unwanted ones...and you have done it

This just means that you are using almost all your PC's memory. It may be because you opened to many applications at the same time or, you have an yucky virus residing on your PC. Use an antivirus software and scan your computer, if it's not a virus problem then its either tweak it to have a bigger virtual memory space or much better upgrade your ram. Oh, you can monitor your vm usage in the task manager (open by pressing ctr+alt+del).

Low virtual memory means that your RAM dosent have enough space left. So close some heavy apps.

Hi lumen! Actually it often occurs because you have insufficient RAM to run the applications, specially when running big programs specially those ones with 3D animations, such as AutoCad, Photoshop, and the likes. When this big applications is running simultaneously, that message will occur. So an upgrade in RAM is needed. But it can actually causes by virus, you know viruses keeps on adding hidden files on our computer and the tendency is we will be running out of memory, as well as harddisk capacity. So your solution can be an upgrade in your RAM or memory and scanning your computer with anti-virus. Have a nice day! Happy myLotting!

a lot of viruses caused this warning to pop, so i suggest check your system's integrity by running updated antivirus clear your temporary files (ccleaner is great free program for cleaning unnecessary files that creep on your system, scan for malwares (malware bytes is another great freeware), run chkdsk, and defrag your system.. if virtual memory error is still showing you may need to upgrade your physical memory (virtual memory utilized part of the hard disk if your physical memory has been exhausted) adding additional hard disk for storage is another option.

it means the page file is used as virtual memory or the term is in addition to RAM capacity is full and you need to add it. If the usage exceeds the capacity of programs and games this message will appear.
