kate's marital problems threaten dancing performance. what?!

i didn't read the whole text but something is wrong with the sentence that is almost copied word for word. that type of dancing of kate's can still be threatened?! i do know that natives of a language can have statements that mean something else when mentioned or written but as an english as a second language speaker it is hilarious! maybe they mean kate's marital problems may affect ability to show up with dancing with the stars. yeah, maybe that's it. am i correct?

I think they mean that worrying about her ex-husband suing for custody of the eight kids has her distracted to the extent that she has trouble concentrating on learning and performing the dances. She may be gone tonight anyway. It is only her fans that are keeping her on the show since her dancing has been very bad for whatever reason.

ah, okay. still it would be looking a lot worse if that happens. however we'd probably see real emotion on her face. she might smile all at once or be unable to conceal an expression that indicates she forgot.
