I remember playing pokemon blue in 1998 and 1999. I did like the old versions. I like the new versions because it improved on many things. There are more pokemon to catch in newer versions. There are newer moves. In pokemon red and blue psychic types were the strongest type of pokemon. Psychic types were immune to ghost moves in red and blue. The only type psychic was weak against in red and blue is bug but all the bug moves have low power so it didn't affect psychic types as much. When Gold and Silver came out there were two types to balance the playing field. Dark is not only strong against psychic but it is immune to psychic moves. Steel is resistant to psychic moves. They also change it in gold and silver where psychic is weak against ghost moves. New bug moves were added to that are more powerful so it can cause alot of damage to psychic moves. I do think new evolutions added to previous generation pokemon made it where those pokemon would most likely be used. I do think they messed up on the pre-evolutions in the third generation since a pokemon can skip its first form and be born in its second form.

I never played the games to be honest but I know about them. I've played the newer versions on the DS, but only for a few minutes at a friend's house. Sometimes games get better and sometimes worse. Sorry you don't like the newer versions, I don't know enough about the older versions as I wasn't into Pokemon when I was younger.

ah those games, for me it was like a line crossing event from the games I was used to, over the new generation games. My nephew quickly became the expert on it.
