A guy I used to live with in the early 1990s adored Queensryche and he got me into them too. Unfortunately, we never got to see them and I don't even know if they visited the UK. The singer has an amazing voice and when I first heard "Silent Lucidity" well, I just melted really! The bloke I lived with bought me the CD the track came from; the name escapes me as it is at Mum's house but take it from me, it's a brilliant album and sounds wonderful loud. I can't remember the singer's name either but he ain't 'arf got kissable lips! I only hope he's aged well because this video is from 1991!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3QSkux3vcQ Enjoy!

Hello, Janey. I do hope you realise what you just did. This old lady almost had a coronary when I saw that gorgeous bloke. I'm all of a dither now! Yes, the song is beautiful. I've never actually heard of this band, but I played a few of the tracks on YouTube and I was really impressed. We all need to go all soft and soppy now and again. Anybody got that guy's phone number? I need to try out those lips and see if they taste as good as they look.

Did you not notice his strides? Pure leather they look like to me. I can't think of anyone who would look so cool in a white, sleeveless vest and those leather trousers. I love his arms too (swoon) and his voice is quite good as well! Haha! I think we should start a Geoff Tate Appreciation Society! I STILL have a crush on Fish (from Marillion years ago) and he is totally bald now but I really don't care. He is 6ft 4ins of pure manliness and wears kilts whenever he can as he is a Scottish Poet don't you know. He might not be to your taste but he is MINE lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7sIzWKHGwQ&feature=related There is also a video of Fish singing this as...er, Fish as he has a solo career now. I did cry when he left Marillion though.

By the way, if you wanna check another "honey" out I've got another one for you. Dan Reed as in Dan Reed Network. He's no hair either now but he had it chopped off years ago but he has such a lovely face. I've seen them live at Liverpool and many people have said that they weren't marketed properly by their record company. They could've been as huge as Bon Jovi I'm sure. At the gig itself - because they specialised in funk rock it was impossible not to dance and the whole band has guys from different ethnic backgrounds in it...way before its time I think. I hope you like the song...it's called "Long Way To Go" and if it doesn't make you cry I'll be surprised! Or drool...one of the two! http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=OupRj7DeNq4&a=eschHbqVTWc&playnext_from=ML

I promise you this is the last one...unless you want more lol. I couldn't forget the Brits so here is Sheffield's finest, Def Leppard. Dig the ripped jeans. Drove me crazy at the time! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6652YIBzByk&NR=1

I am afraid that I will have to disagree with you about his lips being kissable! It is a pretty good song and I have been listening to some of the other heavier ones, which are on Youtube too and more to my liking. I like this one better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQeitJiBDlA&feature=related I remember the band from the 1980's but I do not remember any of these songs. I don't think they were very big in Australia.

I am a fan of AC/DC, but mostly the Bon Scott songs. As you say, he did have a great sense of humour and that translated into the songs which were more full of energy and not so bland. I saw AC/DC in 1992 and again in 1996. They were awesome shows, but I believe their time is over and although they received rave reviews for the recent tour here, I would never see them again. I own all of their albums up until the end of the 80's. Mostly on Cassette though which I never listen too these days! Michael Hutchence did die way too young, just like Bon Scott and many other rock stars. It was a very weird incident. I like their early stuff and I had the Listen Like Thieves album on record when I was a kid. I was a bigger fan of Midnight Oil as far as Aussie bands of the era went and Def Leppard are probably my favourite English band from that time, but again both of those bands later music did not appeal to me like their earlier stuff and I stopped buying it just like AC/DC.

I just realised that I missed your first post in my response. I will have a look at those ones later tonight. Midnight Oil are one of the biggest bands to ever come out of Australia and are indeed very Aussie and iconic. Some of their biggest hits were "Power and the Passion," "US Forces," "Beds are Burning," and "Short Memory." They were successful in the USA and I am assuming they were in the UK as well. They split up in 2002 after 25 years and the bald headed lead singer went into politics and is now one of the leading politicians in Australia. Their website and biography is here: http://www.midnightoil.com/biography/home.do

Haha! Very good! I think we're having some competition here to see which is the best Queensryche song. Try this one, it is from a vinyl(!) LP I have called "Operation Mindcrime." Amazingly, I've remembered to bring it to Carlisle (I have loads of LPs at Mum's still) and I might annoy the neighbours with it shortly! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpBY9Odeiu8&feature=related I have always liked this song and I reckon the LP itself is a Concept Album..the cleverest albums of all in my opinion! Another brilliant one that springs to mind is "Misplaced Childhood" by Marillion...the proper Marillion with Fish as the singer. I watched "Script for A Jester's Tear" last night on YouTube and it nearly made me cry (that's from the LP of the same name). I've seen them 5 times, once in my local town! Check the vid out and Fish's make-up a la Peter Gabriel lol.

Oh my..I bet that was a sight to behold! For some reason I was looking for Dan Reed Network videos as well (and found some) as I LOVED THEM and saw them live over here in the UK...they were even better live! I was a bit miffed when the singer had all his gorgeous hair lopped off though but he said it was "liberating" so I'll take his word for it! As for Geoff..deary me, fancy seeing him in the flesh. Lucky you! Did he have his trademark leather trousers on?

NIKITA SONG written and sung by sir Elton john is my favorite. I like it more than other songs and Abba is another group I find them very interesting. Can you recall Chiquita song written by Abba.

Thanks, Janey. I don't remember the song...but I loved it. The video was a little too dark to see well, but the singer did look like he had kissable lips.

Lovely isn't he? Some of his mulletts (hair dos) have looked a bit dodgy on some of the other Queensryche videos I was watching last night..but I really don't care to be honest. The voice..the voice...is, well, awesome. Even when he goes all "rocky" you can hear every word he says. Very good indeed! Great musicians too..musn't forget them!

No, I won't. I tried to find them on Limewire, but nothing came up. I'll see if I can find some more You Tube videos. Have a great day.

Thanks Winky! I do know what you mean about the videos being a bit distracting at times. In fact, that's the first time I've EVER seen the video for this song! Geoff Tate is a great singer; not sure if Queensryche are still going, I do hope so!

Hi I think the singer was Geoff Tate, but not very sure since there were two others in the band too too whose names I forget. And as you say the song is great as well as inspirational. Thanks for reminding the good old songs

Yes, you are quite right, Geoff Tate is the singer. Not exactly a rocker's name is it but it does seem to suit him! I know what you mean about songs from the past. I'd forgotten how good they all were. Bring back proper songs I say!

I have also had friends, that we grew up together, and since they relocated to other places. I have only rarely met but a few. It is difficult to meet those you grew up with when they move on to other places and you can simply not get a hold of them whenever you need them a lot.
