Is there a naming tradition in your family, such as always giving the firstborn

In our family we do not have such a tradition either, but one of my friends did have that tradition in her family. The first born daugther was named after her mother and the first born son after his father. Kinda tricky when you get mail, because the were named EXACTLY the same, for example: Peter Adrianus Zacharius Smith (the whole name!). This means that if you don't get more than 1 boy and 1 girl, there will be a heck of a lot the same names in one family, sounds kind of boring to me but I respect them for keeping the tradition running. However, my friend says she will not name her children after herself or her husband because she likes the freedom of choosing a name herself and getting some variaty.
