Difficult Professors and how to deal

I have had to deal with one of the most difficult professors ever this semester. I was just recently diagnosed with a medical condition that affects my ability to study effectively. I was trying to write a paper, but due to the medication that I have to take periodically I couldn't finish the paper on time. I asked for an extension, but she refused despite the medical circumstances. Each step of the way past this one incident, this professor has become more and more difficult to deal with. It's escalated to the point where I've had to go to the university and petition to withdraw from the course due to medical reasons. She's just been so inflexible and insensitive, which is so hard to deal with especially when learning to deal with a lifelong disease that I only recently discovered I had. Has anyone else had to go to extreme measures to deal with very difficult instructors?

Did you try getting the doctor to write a letter about your medication? You could always lodge a complaint towards the insensitive lecturer. When you have a condition and the lecturer blatantly ignore those circumstances, you could bring up the matter to the head of faculty. But then again, I've never come across those kind off lecturers in my uni

I did try to go through those channels, but they didn't seem to resolve much. I got a note specifically for her, but she rejected it as a reason to miss class (that's the reason I got it). I have also filed with my school with documentation from my doctor, but even after this documentation came through her attitude toward me didn't change much at all. Unfortunately, she just seems to be a difficult person to deal with. I tried everything I thought of to try and work it out with her, but she kept focusing on the past and repeating why she was right. Withdrawing from the course has really come to be the only option, which is extraordinarily unfortunate. She has just mistreated me so many times in the past few weeks, that I don't see that ending, no matter what I do to try and resolve the issue civilly. I really don't want to spend another few months feeling this way.

These type of professors may be there in every university, there are also professors that are live tigers and every student run away from them. But the fact i want to tell is that all of them are human beings and all of them have a certain ways so they could be convinced. This are the gift of nature or the society, it is the work of a student to find out the convincing point of a professor in the situations they require them. If we can convince a tuff professor, it is like building ourself to overcome real life situation. In life, we don't always come across people in our favour but we need to make people favour us if we are trying to survive and become above others. So don't loose heart, try your best, find all the types of things that can make your professor be convinced with your situation. And finally, consider yourself lucky for having such a good project to finish. A project to convince one of the tuffest person. You will be happy when you made it. Good Luck.

First think back, is there any reason why this professor acts this way? I she like this to every one or just to you(and your friends/classmates)? If yes, then you might have done something to piss her off. I have taught college and there are instances when some students really piss you off. I am not the type that would let those circumstances affect my judgment, but there are people like that. especially those who are weak and have low self esteem. Try being nice to your professor, greet her when you pass by her, just be nice even if you dropped the subject and hurled a lot of petitions towards her. after all, the best way to piss your enemies off (not that I'm saying she's your enemy) is to be nice to them. Who knows, maybe you'll get a friend after

i guess one would encounter at least one terror professor in college (or that's just a theory? haha). i've had lots actually. there are really those kinds of professor and sometimes you just have to accept that they are the way they are and deal with it. you are the one to adjust, which is irritating, i know, but what choice do you have? maybe a solution to this is connive with your classmates and together, refute the professor. this might seem rebellious but going to a faculty member or to a dean to complain would be more risky. best of luck to you and i hope you get well :)
