Both the Rockford Files and Hawaii 5-O are being revived for TV. This seems to continue the lack of creativity sometimes in TV and movies. Whatd you think about new versions of those shows? What old TV shows would you like to see revived?

Hello burrito Unfortunately, I have seen a couple of episodes of the so-called new Hawaii 5-O, and I was disgusted by it. There is absolutely nothing to this 'show.' I couldn't believe how lame it was. When I was a child, I loved watching Hawaii 5-O with my grandparents, and then when my family moved to Hawaii I was excited to see all the places that I had seen on the television show. Later, I was very excited when I got to meet Jack Lord. I was also a fan of the Rockford Files, but wasn't aware that this was remade. Was it ever shown? Peace I love the world!!

They came to their senses and abandoned the idea. No one could replace James Garner.

True. Do you know if the Hawaii 5-O debacle is still showing or did they come to their senses on that one, too?

I can't believe that hollywood has to keep reviving instead of creativing new material and new shows. I wonder who will be starring in these revived versions of the old shows. I wasn't to much into Hawaii 5-0 but I did like the Rockford Files. However, who could possibly take the place of James Gardner. That will be a tough act to follow in my opinion.

Alex O'Laughlin (Moonlight, Three Rivers) is supposed to play McGarrett, who in his case is married ex-Navy seal. Daniel Dae Kim (from Lost) is Chin Ho, which is a change from a fat old guy to thin, young guy. Supposedly,te only thing the new verion will retain from the old one are the character names and the theme music. (and perhaps the line "Book 'em, Dan-o"). For the Rockford Files, Dermot Mulroney, who I like as an actor, has the unfortunate the of replacing James Garner (impossible). Alan Tudyk (the pilot on Firefly) plays Sgt. Becker (good, no way he replaces Joe Santos wry character) and this is the killer, Beau Bridges as Rockford's dad? (I still can't forgive him for replacing Richard Dean Anderson on Stargate SG-1). What still bother's me, who can replace Stuart Margolin's weasily Angel? Another thing to worry about, there's a possible re-make of Charley's Angel's in the works.

I dn't know any of the actors you mention I have to look them up. I might know them my face but not by name. As for remaking Charlie's Angels that is crazy since they made the movies for it. That is overkill to me. I can't believe they can't come up with originality.

I don't think revivals of old shows will work. Both the shows you mentioned were good. New actors playing those characters will not be the same for me. If I had to pick a show to be revived it would be Columbo. Still who could play the character of Columbo like Peter Falk.

eer Falk was one of a kind. I loved him in many of his movie roles, especially the original "In-Laws". I loved when Alan Arkin sees tghe autographed photo of John Kennedy on the wall and asks "What does he mean, at least we tried?" and Falk's response was "The Bay of Pigs. That ws my idea."
