There is a what I beleive to be a virus called "Aniti Virus Vista."This didn't happen until this morning. It keeps repeatidly popping up claiming that My pc is being attacked by virus's.This must be a virus oviously. How do I get it off here, I checked and it is not installed in my pc at all.I left my computer on all night and think that that may be part of the problem, perhaps something attacked my computer last night. So anyways,I already have my own antivirus called "Avg Direct".This is not mine,it may also be an advertiment trying to make me by this anti virus,or it could be a virus.Did this ever happen to anyone? Is there a way to stop this? Thanks!

One clarification : are you using Windows Vista or dual booting it? If no, I know about those trojans ! They are adwares written by malicious coders. Someone must have put that into your PC or your PC would have caught it from the net. I am not sure - those viruses just make pop ups open unlimited number of times.

HI, I got one before and it called "Anti Virus Pro 2010" and it kept pop up on my computer non stop. It kept saying I got some virus in and in order to protect my computer then I have to buy their Anti Virus... I was what??? I almost pay for it but my husband saw it and he said, what did I do? i said nothing... just get online and then it happened. He worked on it like 3 hours... to remove them all out... omg, I thought I have to pay $200 to fix my computer already cuz I already did get it estimated. all you have to do, just install your real Anti Virus in(the new version)... and keep on scan it and remove it as many time as you can cuz this kind of virus will be install in many places that you never know. sometime, it won't let u install your real Anti Virus in cuz it blocks everything on your computer... Try to do it on Safe mode. good luck and hope it works out for u

I had this virus not so long ago and I ran plenty of virus scans with AVG and some other anti-virus programs although with them it said I didn't have a virus. I didn't even know the 'Anti Virus Vista' thing was a virus by the way so I just let it keep popping up and eventually I wasn't able to use any of the programs on my computer through my account so I went on another account on the same computer and used that for a while because it was working fine on that account. In the end I just deleted my account (on my computer) and made a new one and everything was perfect... until this day. I have no idea how to solve this since it won't show up as a virus and I don't know how to remove it either. My advice would be to make another 'backup' account on your PC or laptop in the meantime just in case you can't access your programs in the future. Good luck with this!

I'll try making a new account and see what happens, there must be some way to remove this. They are trying to get you to purchase their software, and until you do it keeps poppinh up.This is ridiculous!

UGGH I hate Anti-Virus Vista, I had to restart my computer and such just to avoid looking at that garbage. I decided to buy a Norton 2010, and I don't think Anti-Virus Vista ever came back for me.

Did you get this fixed? I got the XP version of that a few times now, you're going to have to delete the registry values. You may have to do this in safe mode if the adware is blocking your access to your registry. PM me if you need more help with it, I can send you links.

This 'anti virus' attack that you are suffering from is like a bed bug, it might seem to go away for a minute after you've tried some of these methods to remove it but more likely than not, it will keep coming back until you get a professional involved. That some virus attacked me a couple of months back and it kept popping up over and over again until it took over completely. I called mcafee (my anti virus protection installed) and they had to go in over the internet on my computer to take it out manually. This virus is extremely hard to remove. Almost all of these other methods will ask u to buy their product anyway, so your probably gonna have to pay either way . Good luck , dont wait , fix it b4 its too late

You could manually delete this virus. Look for instructions on the internet. I haven't had this virus since i'm not running on vista. make sure when you try removing the virus yourself, you are using "purely manual methods" meaning you dont need to download extra software or files just to remove it. instructions that have pure intentions usually include the batch code or registry edit code that you need to install in you pc so you could manually make it. some forums may ask you to post a hijack log. hijack is safe so feel free to download and use it. if all else fails, backup your files in an optical disk (like dvd, cd, blu ray) and reformat your computer. make a different partition for your operating system (vista, let's say it's in drive C) and for your files (let's say drive D). Scan you backup disk before re-storing it on your newly formatted hard drive.

This is a popular virus right now. My husband and I both like to dabble with fixing computer and we have had to visit a lot of friends house this month with the same kind of problem. One friend had a very old computer and this more or less killed his computer. (he did have other problems before and like I said the computer was old too like eight years old) Anyhow my husband (who I hate to admit is better at this then I am) always starts in safe mode and runs www.malwarebytes.org it is a free program. And of course delete any temps on your computer. %temp% in the start run bar will pull all of those up. (he has other tools on a disc..so I can't share those.. but) If you still have that pop up go to http://geekstogo.com They will be able to walk you through the steps. Usually these back door virus (this is one of them) are a large pain to get rid of. Malware usually does the trick but we have found some others that even we turn to geekstogo to learn more. I love AVG so you have a good antivirus program. Malware is good to keep on hand and run once in a while with AVG to double check for problems and they can be ran together.
