Most people view the debate over this as being religiously motivated but the truth is that there are real scientific objections to current research being done. The UK seems to be leading the way ahead of any other nation and there is a strong push here in the U.S. to do the same by most research corporations. You may remember celebrities like Christopher Reeves and others speaking out in favor of embryonic stem cell research as being a cure to peoples ailments but most of these individuals are not very well informed and the truth is there is absolutely no applications for embryonic stem cells and most every experiment done in a lab has caused death for the animal involved and they actually seem to cause other diseases and more susceptible to cancer. On the other hand there is real treatments for individuals and hope for cures using adult stem cells (ones that are already in your adult body or using things like umbilical cord). These have practical applications and have been proven effect in curing certain diseases or ailments. So why the push for embryonic stem cells? Some think its due to adult stem cells being patient specific and the desire to market a product that target a large group of people which will only be achieved using embryonic stem cells, in other words money. What are your feelings on both of these types of research?
