It's Reassuring To Know I Haven't Changed Much Over The Years!

I say this because most people will know that I am blogging my diaries from the past. Currently, I have just finished typing up September 1985. Below is an extract from that particular month. You can probably tell I was into "justice in all things" even then, which is why I say that I haven't changed much. How about you? Do you look back and think you have changed...whether it be political views, your personal interactions with others, justice in the workplace, love? Anything really! "25th September 1985 Bl**dy hell, everyone was in a p*ssed off mood today and the reason? Cr*p wages that's what. I'm sick and tired of getting sh*t on by the likes of Marsden and his crew so hopefully us drum* girls can do something about it. What, I don't know. It's no good just one person complaining, we need quite a few going in at once. If that doesn't happen we'll be on more or less the same wage as we are now for evermore. Norm came round later on with WASHED HAIR. It took ages but he cheered me up slightly." If you want to know who Norm was I shall tell you, but only if you ask me! As for me writing to the Citizens Advice Bureau, I cannot for the life of me remember doing it but I must've done, otherwise it wouldn't be in the diary. I also know that our protests for better wages didn't get us anywhere...but there again I didn't leave until mid-1989. The company itself is now extremely small and the printers even had to buy their own equipment to survive. There is certainly no office staff now as they are located down south where there has always been another "hub" if you like. Apparently, according to diary entries from 1985 I could have a jolly good night out for £10! Those were the days! *Drums were full of cards that could be rotated round. Each drum girl had a certain part of the alphabet to deal with (companies) so I thought I'd clear that one up!

I didn't keep a diary, but I look back and I know I've changed. I use to be more liberal in my thinking; I'm much more of a conservative now in the way I view the world. In my younger years, I was going to kick a**, but after years, it appears I got my a** kicked. I use to think nothing could happen to me, and if it did, I'd bounce back. Now, I know things can happen and it's sometimes hard as h*ll bouncing back.

It seems to me that you have become hardened (but in a nice way) so that you can deal with anything else that crops up, not that I am an expert on these things. I suppose I have changed in one respect. When I had the 1991 diary and didn't write in it much I vowed that one day I wouldn't live with anyone like that...and go without if need be. I did go out with a few after "Blobby" as I call him but I was just going through the motions. I found John on the internet by accident really. Up until that point I was strong enough to be on my own (not live on my own but not have a partner) so to meet John in 2003 was a bonus I wasn't expecting. A lot of my friends got pregnant, married (or both) early on in their lives and I couldn't be bothered with any of that. "Life over" I used to think quite often. I have never regretted not having children as I wouldn't be able to give them the life they deserve. Kids are so demanding!

I never kept a diary, kind of wish I have. I guess the equivalent now is my family blogs. Hopefully I'll be able to print them out one day and keep the memories...

I am paranoid about losing my diaries in a fire or something which is the main reason why I am blogging them all. It's become a habit. I cannot go to bed without writing in my diary, even now. The only period of my life I was a bit lax with my diary was probably 1991...and then I was living with someone who would (most definitely) read my diary if he had access to it. I even resorted to taking the thing to work which gives you an idea of how it was then. To be honest, I'm GLAD I didn't write much in the 1991 diary. I much prefer the years I wasn't living with a toe-rag thanks lol.
