Letters from Santa

United States
November 16, 2006 7:18am CST
I have seen a lot of ads for services that will write your child a letter from Santa that will be postmarked in the North Pole, AK. Most of these charge $10 for the letter. You can do this for free through the US Postal Service if you want, and save yourself the $10. Here are details from the US Postal Service's website: http://www.usps.com/communications/news/press/2003/pr03_090.txt

Just goes to show how commercial the holidays are, I have worked in the retail business for the last 10 years and you would not believe what you see, what people will go through and pay for what they see in a commercial..

I have always just wrote the letters myself and put them in their stockings. Now that my boys are older they don't react like they use too about santa they still believe but I think they mostly say they do and really not. I'll try your suggestion thanks. Maybe if they actually got a letter in the mail maybe they will believe again.

The things you can make that will sell for holiday occasions is unbelievable, there is nothing like getting a gift that is hand grafted they are hard to get and you can see the craftmanship in them, they are very special..so yes making money at home is possible with a little thought. I have seen people take 6 days and make these little crafts which may have cost them 1 dollar to make and then on Friday sell them at a market for 5 times that amount.

It's my pleasure, I hope you can use it. I just hate to see people spend money for things they can do themselves for free. :)

Santa Clause - A caricature of Santa's hed.
I have no children so the information does not interest me. However, I will say that those parents who want to bring joy to theirs might do well to follow your suggestion. While Santa is a figment of the imagination I am all for it as long as it is not carried to extremes so that children are not disillusioned when they find out that Santa realy doesn't exist.

santa letter - santa letter
That is great!!! My sister likes to do letter for my kids. But the older children see the post mark from West Palm Beach...so they know it is from her. But they play along for the rest of the children.:) I think it is a great idea for the post mark to say North Pole...even if it is Alaska. Thanks so much for sharing. I wish I would have found this discussion when you started it. But it is something to keep in mind for next year. Thanks!!!!
