The Politics of Technology

Science and technology have greatly improved the quality of man's life. In most cases, a country's success and power are measured in terms of its technological development. But what if technology is used by a country not to help other countries but exploit or enslave them? What if technology goes political - used by one country to control another? Any comments please.

Usually most technology ends up as a civilization's destruction. Goes for the romans, egyptians, etc. There once was a commercial that's slogan was to say 'NO' to INNOVATION. Keeping it the same to save itself.

Technology can be used differently from many people, whether for the right reasons or for completely wrong reasons. You never know when technology that can be used for noble purposes that can be twisted just enough to be used for not so noble purposes. The Internet is one of the key examples. There are good things that have come out of the Internet, but there are many people who have used the Internet to commit crime. It is one of those aspects of life that is extremely hard to nail down. So technology can be used to exploit others. Especially if one country stumbles upon something that is leaps and bounds ahead of anything. I think that is just one of the things that we have to deal with. We need the improvement of life, as we evolve but at the same time, there is always to risk that technology can be used for not so nice purposes. Technology is always a double edged sword with as many risks as there are benefits.

Well, that's how it works in the past. But now, it seems so hard to do that. I just can't fathom seeing a big country enslaving and controlling the lives of the people in the poor country.

Hello uniqueorn, I hope you don't mind this suggestions: how about reading about some countries in the third world wherein they are still poor inspite of being regarded as an ally to a rich country. What countries are those? well that is for you to research. Thanks for your views.
