Stress, it's not that bad after all. What say you?

Some friends and I, we were discussing about stress. How stressed we are lately and ways we can overcome and control it. All of us believe that it's just part of life and that we can't run away from it. While most believe that some groups of people may have difficulty managing it, there are others who may thrive on the adrenaline rush that comes along with stress. A little stress, I believe, is good. Stress motivates us to excel. Stress makes us tough when the going gets tough and keeps us going. Stress, it's not that bad after all. What say you?

Hi Tomitomi, Honestly, I don't want to get stressed out. I prefer to work in a stress free environment especially that I'm currently pregnant. With the kind of job that I have I have to face stress and pressure from my Boss almost everyday. I believe that it's nicer to work in a stress- free environment. It does not mean however, that I don't like my job. I love it. However, the part of my job that I don't like is the stressful one and that usually involves trouble shooting and real time addressing issues/ problems. The part of my job that I love is that where I get to motivate people and drive them to perform. :)

That's right. :) You can't avoid stress at work. However, it's not healthy if there's stress everyday and the entire day of your work. It's not fun working in that kind of environment. Aside from the fact that it can demotivate people it makse the job/ work more exhausting and draining.

Hi Ladyslipper! I can understand all these. Yes, it's always nicer to work in a stress-free environment. And great too where you get to motivate and drive people to perform. Thanks for sharing!

That is if you don't really let stress get in your daily activities.

You have a point there Saranggola. I would like to think how much much fight we put up after taking full advantage of the adrenaline flow that comes along with it. Thanks for your thought! :)

Hey tomi! I don't think that stress can be good no matter what kind it is! Stress is not good for anyone! It makes you sick! You can have heart trouble, high blood pressure and a million other symptoms! I don't know why you would think that it could possibly be something that would help you in anyway! Stress doesn't motivate you it could end up killing you! I think you should research stress a bit more before you end up getting killed by it!

Hi Opal! When stress makes us feel frustrated and depressed over a long period of time it is very damaging. It causes everything you have said above and I agree with you. And as you said too, yes it is lethal. Nobody likes this kind of stress. I would be lying or going insane if I said I do. But, can we actually run away from stress? Can we hide ourselves from it? Whether we like it or not stress is inevitably a part of life. We have no choice but to learn to control it otherwise it controls us. And before we are able to manage it effectively we need to understand and look at the different types of stress. While most of us may not be equipped to handle the big 'stress' single-handedly there are the little 'stresses' we can learn to identify and take full advantage with the adrenaline rush they bring. These are the strengths I find in burning the midnight oil to meet a deadline, the little push I have to keep me going when the going gets tough, the distance I walked to get a gas from the nearest station when the fuel ran dry, the many sleepless nights I had to endure when my son came down with dengue. I'm just another layman. I certainly do not look for any stress, big, small, whatever. But when I'm confronted with it, I fight back. Thank for sharing Opal!

Stress, hmmm i really don't like that word. Most of the doctors would say that is due to stress, blah-blah-blah. Have been waiting in vain and if stress is the one that is causing me to delay what I am waiting for, grrrr i really don't know what to do. If you say that sometimes we people do need stress to get going, probably a little of it, but too much, no wayyyy i surrender to that. I know to draw the line and to what I can only handle for the day, but too much pressure and all, well I will really sit down, relax, take a deep breath and say I can do this! but give me a break... let me pause for a while

Hi strawberrychocodahi! This discussion would have been a lot less stressful if I had probably put it as 'Stress: Hate it or Love it!' But that would perhaps have gravitated the argument to one side and we would therefore not able to look at both sides of the coin as you have seen it here. You are certainly taking advantage of the adrenaline rush that comes along with the stress. When you decide "I can do this!" you would! Thanks for sharing!

Just my opinion buttt I have a reason to believe its bad. cus my dad had too much of it, it was between getting fired at work, divorce, my mom getting very sick, and all this other stuff on him. He jus culdnt take it anymore. and his stress got sooo bad, i was in the car with him and he started having really bad chest pains. he got lucky there was a hosptial nearby cus it got worse and i dunno i was only 11 lol but all i remember was him getting circle things on his chest and getting blood pricked. but yes stress is most definitely bad for you! :)
