Giant Tortoise (or was it snail) At the End of my Bed!!

Funny how the light plays tricks on things. This morning when I opened my eyes long before dawn, this is what I saw at the end of the bed. This giant tortoise... occasionally with the eyes of a snail, looked at me, then looked at the door, then looked at me, then looked at the door. After a while I couldn't take it anymore so turned on the light to see what I was really looking at. It was the chair across the room with a load of washing on it. The light of the TV (which I leave on all night) drifts into my bedroom, and highlights it in such a way that it made the chair come alive and turned it into some hybrid monster! I made a mental note to put that washing away and turned off the light. But it makes me curious... How many others out there, who are now adult, still see monsters that affect you so much that you have to turn on the light to see what you're looking at? What monsters have you see? And what did they turn out to be when you turned on the light?
