It is true yet cannot be avoided, that office emails are sometimes being used for personal messages. There were even times that some of the jokes and rumors among the office are dessiminated thru the office emails. Is it unethical to use it for personal messages or is it really a part of being an employee

Definitely as the employee might send some files that can be harmful to the company and could result in lawsuits if you send it outside the office. If it's within the company, at least emails that could relieve the stress like jokes. etc.

I think so. It's because your company email is supposedly for official business use only. You should have your own and separate e-mail account that you use for personal business.
