I am a nocturnal person because my work is at night time. It means, I normally do my sleeping at day time, but when it's my rest-day I have the chance to sleep at night which most people do. Luckily for me that I'm not having a hard time in sleeping whether it is night time or day time. The only thing that is true is that the feeling after sleeping is totally different from the two. For me, night time is still the best time to sleep, cause whenever you sleep even 5 hours or lesser as long as it's night time, it's like you've rested well without the eye-bags.

I think it is during night that is the best time to sleep. I read somewhere that there are certain time that you should be asleep because your body is cleaning/healing during sleeping in those hours. I think there is a time that your liver, lungs and some organs do there "cleaning". And I read that the sleep you get in the morning would not compensate for the loss of sleep you had during the night. But I do not know if you constantly sleep during the day that the body clock would also adjust or not. And I think it is better to sleep at night because everybody is asleep. TV stations are off the air, malls are closed and restaurants too. Though at this time and age 24 hours stores are already everywhere since call center agents are blooming in number. I work in normal working hours and sleep at night but during weekends I love to sleep in the early hours of the following day already.

I think it has been long recognized that sleeping at night and awake during the day with an afternoon nap is the healthiest way to sleep. If you do not get at least 7-8 hours or longer you end up being sleep deprived. If you buck this trend you end up with long term health problems down the road. I would imagine there are some exceptional individuals that it might not effect, but for the majority we develop problems when we buck the natural cycles.

For me best time to sleep is the morning time.I work at nights and come back at two in the mornings. After coming back I watch some movie and sleep at 4 in the morning.I like this.May be this is not a good habit but I love it in this way.But I sleep for more than 9 hours a day.So no problems with my timing.
