New Medication! Doctor Prescribes New Medication, Do You Check Side Effects??

If you are given a new medication by your doctor, do you read or check to see what the side effects might be? There are ads on television, which detail the most horrible side effects for some medications. It is hard to believe that someone would purchase even over the counter medicines with the side effects that are described. What are your thoughts?

I usually don't but I learned my lesson last month. I was given medication and it was the first time given to me. I didn't know anything about it and the doctor didn't explain anything as well. When I started taking in the meds, I felt all those side effects (which I didn't know at that time) and it got me worried because I was feeling all those side effects all at the same time. I then decided to check on the prescription paper and the net as well and true enough, the things I was feeling are the side effects of the medicine.
So next time, before taking in another medicine, I'll check on the side effects first to know what to expect and to avoid all that unnecessary panic. It pays to do a little research.

honestly, i dont check. doctors give prescription, i buy. seems i trust him so. well, i have not had any side effects, that's why. 
but next time i should probably be asking. i know you have a point there.

...Hi there tigeraunt, Hope you are feeling well. You may not experience any side effects as it appears you have not which is a good thing. But it is a good idea for us to read that information to see what the possibilities are, because if you do as I do sometimes I don't pay attention to a change in my body after taking a new medicine. Just keep taking it, when I could be harming myself in some way. So it may be good to read those inserts to be aware. Thanks for your response and take good care.
