Found A Site That Helps Windows 2000/ XP/Vista Users Optimise Their System

As some fellow MyLotters will know I have been having problems with my old computer that has Windows XP as its operating system. I also use Firefox. The main problem has been with playing videos and it then tended to slow my computer down whenever I was using "ordinary" sites too, as with scrolling and such-like. Anyway, on another discussion of mine a lady mentioned videocards. Now, I'd not given these much thought until then (and I will thank her shortly) so I googled "updating videocards for XP" and lo, and behold, one of the sites that was listed is the link below. I am not affiliated with this site in any way so will not receive money if you click on it, I promise you. But, hey, I want to help you too. So, if, like me you have been having problems with XP or Vista and want to know how each can be optimised, please click on the link below. It is absolutely crammed full of information regarding Malware, etc and it turns out that I had not subscribed to updates by NVIDIA regarding my drivers, so an update has now been installed..er, from 2006 hehe lol. That is a very good example of finding something relevant to my machine that I didn't know about before. Before I found all this (on the site below) there is also a PC Wizard that will download and show you EVERYTHING that is on your computer. It is free to use as is everything else and it was invaluable in listing driver information, amongst other things. Please let me know if you find the site as interesting, informative and useful as I did. I have given it the Thumbs Up on StumbleUpon and you should too if you have that facility. Happy browsing this wonderful site my friends. http://home.comcast.net/~SupportCD/index.html

Well, you haven't anything to lose checking it out. I couldn't believe my luck when I discovered the site. It had everything on there that could help me (not that I understood it all) but at least all the processes are explained in detail, which is good. Let me know if you do indeed check into it for Dearra's computer. I have installed everything I wanted to yesterday and my computer is now behaving itself after logging back in this afternoon. I only hope this Honeymoon Period lasts! Haha!

No, Dearra is my daughter, and her computer could use some optimization!

I am hearing "Dearra's computer" for the first time. What is it? Is it a brand like HP, Dell or something else? By the way I am only a novice in the field trying to acquire knowledge just as a pastime. I keep helping my friends who look towards me whenever they encounter some problems while using their systems.

I too did this once on a friends computer. Somehow his system developed strange problem. We used the recovery disc and then from the net downloaded drivers one after another. I took the help of the user manual where the links are given. I do not remember as of now the link. Maybe I can furnish all additional info. later.

Thanks Janey. This discussion is quite interesting. I shall also take a step forward to learn and experiment on the lines you have indicated.

Very useful resource. I like checking out the guides in the majorgeeks.com forums whenever I have any problems with Windows XP. I try to keep my anti virus/spyware programs up to date, and scan the system every two months or so.

It's amazing what's "out there" that I come across by accident most of the time. I've spent hours on the site I've recommended so I'm hopeful that my computer will carry on giving me pleasure for another 10 years lol. Haha! I don't think it will but I've no money to buy another one so to get some more life out of the Old Dog is - well, ace quite honestly!
