Which car is the best for 5000-7000$

Hi myloter's i'll be buying a car soon and want to know what would you suggest? I'm from Europe so i can't buy an American car as much as i'd love to, especially the old ones. I'm looking for a small car(no not smart), 4 seats, and a powerful one. One that's reliable and looks good. I'm picky i know. What do you drive, what would you suggest? My brother bought an automatic mondeo tdi and has problems so i had to tow him with my mitshubishi space star 1.3. Like that car. I don't want a car that's famous for problems. Please help
