How long do you spend time at work?

How many hours do you spend on working every day, and how many hours can you stay at work? I have some friends who stay at work every day for 16 hours and I don't think that's fine especially if one is having their own family. Would you like to work for longer hours just to earn enough money?

Hello my friend, well eight hours could be enough and working twelve hours could be tough especially successive one, but in your case it sounds real great since you are on service and it will surely bring you happiness thus makes you feel better about yourself. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

You are the miracle man. I don't know if I can do it with such long hours. I wish that I can do it too, although it is not for my family. I would do it for better future.

My work load is cyclical, so during company low activity season, I just work 8 hours a day. (The minimum requirement is 8 hours per day). During peak season, I might need to stay in the office for 12 to 16 hours a day. The longest that I work last time is 24 hrs because I was rushing for unit testing result and had to spend the night in the production floor. If possible, I won't work late. I prefer a balanced life between personal priorities and career. I would rater spend after work hour on my study on investments.

You are most welcome. I appreciate the importance of family because we can always start over on our career, but we can only have our family once. Ya, after working for 24hrs, I feel like walking in a dizzy way. The sleep after that is so sweet. The side effect is quite strong, and I need a few days before I could adjust my bio-clock back to normal again. Have a great day careguarden!

Unless they don't have a life themselves. I won't spend 16 hours at work without socializing with friends. That is just not normal. I would like to make money, but I have to with friends or family too. I need to balance out my life.

The required hours of work in our company is 8 hours and we get paid for each hour of overtime, but at the end of the day I'm usually tired so I don't do overtime except when it is really needed. I love to go home after a day's work to spend time with my family.

Yeah, eight working hours could be enough since our family needs our time and they're more important than anything since they won't stay forever, we can always have a job but we can't always have our family on our side. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Well teaching is such a noble and admiring job. It's very important job in our society as there can be no professionals without a teacher like you. I work nightshifts so those are my days. I am there for a total of eight hours but we get docked for lunch time and it comes out to 7.75 hours every shift. I don't think it's fair but that's the way it goes I guess. I don't think it's right for a person to burn themselves out when it comes to working and ruin their family time either. It's very hard on kids when they don't get the time they deserve with mommy or daddy. This girl at my work is in a whole lot of trouble with child and family services because she's working nightshifts and sleeping all day while her 3 year old is trying to stab her in the face with scissors while she's sleeping or getting into things that she shouldn't. While her son is telling her that he hates her, and her other 11 yr old is not doing so well in school. Her step daughter doesn't show love towards her either. This girl also works as a waitress at a restaurant two-three times in the evenings a week. So there's minimal time spend with the family and I can see it falling apart now. It was just a matter of time and whenever she comes to work, I hear about all different negative issues going on in her household. It's terrible! Take care

I have a very challenging job but I regularly work 8 hours a day. Sometimes, I work extended hours too like an hour or two but I try not to get used to it or have my bosses get used to me working OT. I want to set boundaries most of the time. LOL.

the required time of duty in my work is 7.5 hours. however, we rarely go home on time. i work at the airport, so when there are delays, we have to stay until your designated flight departs or arrives. we're also required to render overtime services because we're undermanned, so we have to stay longer than 7.5 hours so someone would handle the flights. i have tried working for 20 straight hours one time. it's not exactly an experience i would like to repeat. but when this happens, you can sit out your next shift and just file that you have worked 20 hours the day before, this has to be approved by the manager though. i don't think that working 16 hours all the time is healthy, even for a person who lives alone. it's tiresome and can be dangerous to that person's health, but then, it's that person's choice too sometimes. but personally, i don't like staying for longer hours just to earn money, it is too tiresome and most of the times, the amount we get paid is not worth it anyway.

I have store business and usually i stay up to 16 hours a day. I don't hire people, i just want to hands-on on my business. But don't worry my parents help me here but of course they spent only 10 hours a day here. And Saturday and Sunday usually i work for 10 - 12 hours.

I spend 3 hours in the morning from 8-11 am and another 3 hours in the afternoon from 4:30-7:30 in the evening. My schedule changes every month but this month is really a lot of changes. But I think its a good thing. It is both a good news and a bad news for me. Good news cause work is not as tiring, and bad thing cause I will be earning less.

I work eight hours a day. On occasion, depending on our work schedule, I may volunteer on a day. But, that is usually because our work load has lighten and so has the hours. But, were I work it can be a feast or a famine depending on what time of the year it is.

I spend 9 hours at work now a days including 30-45 minutes of lunch break and 45-60 minutes of gymnasium early morning. Sounds great, isn't it? Well, there was a time when I used to stay at work for more than 16 hours a day and just kept working and working and working, but that was when I was new and enthusiastic .. and now I'm experienced and smart ;)
