I have often found that my first impression is right and I have come to trust it. do give folks the benefit of the doubt tho if I didn't like them taking into account that we all have our good and bad days. How about you, do you trust your first impression of someone?

Hey tallygirl, I think first impressions are very important because they say a lot about a person. Usually people get judged by appearances but in reality their personality can be totally different. As many people do, i unfortunately judge people by how they do look but the good think is that my inner senses tell me to give them a chance. However, usually for me, my gut instinct on first impressions is usually accurate about a person. It has been rare for me to get a wrong impression. Later, borg246

I wouldn't say I trust it 100%. But I don't forget my first impression easily (or maybe not at all) - some of my first impressions are accurate and true. While some are not. I can't tell which is more often, the hits or the misses. Well I still try to treat people as I wanna be treated and not make assumptions about what they're really like unless I see / experience that myself.

I try to judge people at their looks and as far as I have read a lot of things for the non-verbal signs I am quite good at saying something about the personality of the people just by their looks. The are however people who are too shy to show their real self and you have to spend more time with them trying to find out what they really are.

An interesting question! I think that generally I DO trust my first impression - and to be honest, I find that my first impressions are 99% right. When I meet people though I try not to be too judgemental or make impressions on their appearance, age, colour, weight etc as I know from mnay (too many) years of experience that people are not stereotypes.
