We did it again....

About a year and a half ago, my husband and I went on one of those "free" mini-vacations where you have to listen to their "45 minute" sphele for a time share. We went in knowing we were in no way financially stable enough to get a time share, but they actually made us an excellent deal and we bought a 1 bedroom that we could use every other year. We did get a great deal and it was something that actually wasn't too awfully far out of our range. This past weekend, we went back for a "member meeting" where they make sure you're happy and know how to use all the benefits. THEN they try to sell you more stuff. I told my husband that if they offered us something we wanted - either a 2 bedroom or an every year upgrade - for $5,000 we'd do it. I knew that wasn't going to happen, so we were "safe". Well, they offered us BOTH for a little more. We actually got both of those upgrades plus expanded range of usage (more weeks that were available to us). So, we bought the upgrades. I'm actually pretty excited about it because I know we are going to use it. If I had more money I'd buy more time because we have been traveling a lot! Do you have a time share? Do you use it? Have you upgraded?

No, but there are sure a lot of them down here in FL, many have been in foreclosure so there's probably some good deals to be had. Glad you got a vacation out of it..I think that's an excellent incentive and a great marketing technique.

We're very excited about it and have the next few years vacations mapped out. I think they are trying to make good deals because the market is so bad.

I was tempted once, but we did not do it. I think for us it was good not to. My husband was the one with the level head. I know you and your husband are young enough to enjoy this. My dad and his wife had one, but eventually got too old to take advantage of it as much and sold it. I had a friend who got one, but it was not very nice, and they seldom used it.They really were not in a position to afford it either. They had a heck of a time getting rid of it. I k now you and your husband have much more experience than my friends did.

We've been going on vacations every year so this is something we will definitely use. We've got the next 4 years or so already mapped out. If it's not something you are going to use then it's a bad thing to do.
