Hi there, i was just wondering how do it get a domain name? I mean like i went to go daddy and i want to sign up for a domain name. What are the requirements that i need. I am a newbie to this but lately i wanted to set up my own website so i needed a domain for my site. So , i went to godaddy then owning a domain name cost like about USD $13 but then i need to certify it and private register it and i also add a email for my domain too. Then the total comes up to $100 plus I mean is the email thingy necessary? Like what are the requirement for getting a domain name? And is getting a domain name that expensive? :s Please help. And thank you! :)

I use godaddy.com actually so I can tell you what I've done. After getting my domain, I had a free hosting credit, which I used. I've gotten a free email credit from them and redeemed it for that. Is your web site going to be really big or small? I think if you buy a hosting account, it does cost more but that depends on what you're looking for. All you need is a domain name to start with and you can get hosting as well. I only pay for the domain and that's it. I would also recommended getting an FTP program. You can use that to upload your web site. The best one I've found would be FileZilla and it's free. If you've all ready taken care of getting a web site, then disregard it. If not, let me know if you run into more trouble and I'll try to guide you through it.

You don't need all that email extra, you can just sign up for the domain name. This means that you have the rights to that name for 1 year or however many years you purchase the domain name for. Once you get the domain name, if you are planning to run a website, you will have to get hosting. At namescheap, if you type in the code motherslove for the month of may you could have gotten a full year for a domain name for $8.81.
