i dunno what to call this... i know there is writer's block. but is there such a thing as designer's block? i have a client who comes to me when she doesn't know what she wants. i have already submitted 6 designs but she doesn't like any of them. sometimes she would say that i am not inspired in my designs. oh God!!! i really need to free my mind. she wants something elegant. i designed her something fresh. and she doesn't like it. i am at a loss now. what do i do? i guess i need to lie down and think of my designs. my client doesn't like what i did so far...argggh... what do you call this condition? lack of inspiration? creative inspiration? creativity?

Hi, spoiled311. I would call it the "unsatisfied block." Nothing you design for her, she likes. The only thing that I would suggest you do is, let her draw what she likes. That way, she can pick out what she wants. She should give you a layout with the exact colors, prints and designs that she wants to have. She should be grateful for you helping her. She is just so hard to please.

maybe your idea of elegant isn't her idea of elegant. What are people usually talking about when they say elegant? Did you get any ideas from her? Any expamples of items she thinks are elegant?

I hadn't really thought about it but yes if we get writer's block there must be times that in anything creative you will have a 'block' in your creativity. I would suggest walking away from the work environment , empty your mind of work, take in the nature, buildings- whatever around you. You should go back to your work more refreshed and hopefully oozing with creative ideas!! Good luck
