When your child/children were born did you chose natural birth with pain medication such as demoral or did you chose to have an epidural? I just had demoral and I was great, I felt no pain, plus there is all the risks with the epidural i did not want to risk being paralyzed. Whats your choice?

Hi rebecca, Is demoral same as gas and air? I did not get epidural. I just used gas and air. Thank God I survived. I was afraid that I would not be able to push since you feel no pain. They said you won't know when to push and all. Other risk also scares me.

From my probing, I found out that when they issue you epidural, they'll tell you when to push. They'll can tell thru the CEG? you know that machine beside you that monitors your belly..

I had 2 epidurals and one spinal (used during my c-section). I was going to try to go natural but unfortunatly I don't have speedy labors. My shortest labor was I think 23 hours from the time I knew it was happening til delivery, Sorry but I was usually pooped out by the time we got to the hospital and in tons of pain.

My first two I used the gas also. They said it was laughing gas actually. Too bad considering the situation we were in, the gas cannot make us laugh no matter what..lol! I did not want epidural the same reason you and Sydney but my third has to go thru a c section so I got no choice. Luckily it turns out okay. My advice is choose your doctor VERY carefully. Ask around. And when you have one is better that you listen to your doctors advice. I know a mother that went against her doctor and lost the baby. Anyway my scar isn't so bad and I haven't got any side effects from the epidural or the c section or so i think..

When I had my first daughter, I specified that I wanted to have epidural. Unfortunately, the anaesthetist was not available, so they give me gas. But the gas made me queasy, so I stopped. For the second one, there was no time at all even if I wanted to. We reached the hospital, and the baby was born an hour later. WHEW!!!
