All responses are welcomed, as long as you can actually relate to what's going on. If you've never been heavy or over-weight, then this discussion may not be for you. When growing up i was that skinny person who was belittled everywhere i went. People would tell me how pretty i was, but to please eat or people would ask if i was dying or something. Ya, that skinny! Well, i did something about it and bloomed into a beautiful, plus size woman, who really need to loose, atleast 65 pounds. My health is being affected (borderline diabetes, breathing problems, hard to walk, it's hard to bind over and tie my shoes, etc,,,) I'm miserable, but it's the reverse psycology thing going on, when i look in the mirror, i'm always looking at the ole skin and bones. Along with starting a realistic exercise program and sticking to it, what are you guy's input on a healthy way to drop these pounds? Everyone has some kind of addiction and mines happens to be food.

The best way to drop some pounds it`s to make sport . I gan assure you that worked in my case. I`m getting new pounds fast on, and it`s hard to drop them. So, i`ve went jogging every day, for 2 weeks, and already i eat less, and i`ve lost 4kg. But i`ve been carefull how much i`m eating, and i tried to eat more fruits. This is a healthy method. You should try it.

Hopefully all of you guys will read this response, because it's for everyone who took the time out to respond and even care. Thank you everyone for your wonderful ideals and support. It's amazing how many adults are actually on mylot.com and because i can think of quite a few other sites that would have just blasted me and called me fat and lazy.---I do know in fact that i will start walking everyday, in some kind of shape, form and fashion. Examples: When going to the store i'll park somewhat of a good, reasonable distance from the intrance. If i have some spare time, i'll make it a habit to walk the entire store, because we all know that there's no harm in window/wishing shopping, right? Taking the stairs is a wonderful ideal, as long as it's in reason. I wouldn't want to walk up 15 flights of stairs, unless i had completely lost my mind. In my home, i guess i'll start wearing out my carpet. Please don't laugh at this one, but i had intentionally purchased a manually push mower to mowe the lawn, which isn't that big. My husband had a cow about it, but he's a good ole soul (like hubbys are to be, smile) and just goes with the flow. Years ago, i had dropped my weight like a bad hahit, by binging on chinese food, once a day. I ate fruits and veggies for snacks and to really give myself a treat, just plain popcorn once a week. Oh, i forgot to mention, after eatting chinese food, i'll smoke like crazy. It's bad, but hey, under the circumstances, i'll cross one bridge at a time.

Gemini, In high school I was about 135lb...I prayed every day to gain weight, ate everything in sight, nothing...fast forward to enlisting in the AF. I had gained to 170lb, which was a healthy look for me (5'9") but then later God answered my prayer & a few years down the road I'm seeing 220 on the scales. I was 25 or so at the time. I started running, something we had to do anyway once a year in the military & decided to incorporate free weights. Now, I was still eating everything in sight but with the running (3 miles/day) & heavy lifting I platteaued at around 190lb but I was much leaner than when I weighed 170. Fast forward again 10 more years. I'm done with weights, still running but I'm not loosing the inches I had seen in earlier years. My wife start Weight Watchers, which kind of forced me to eat the same. I dropped 45lb in about 6 months. I'm a guy so I know I will loose it much quicker than women but my wife was doing well on it also. It bothered me when I was doing the same thing I had done 10 years prior but not having any success. I guess I'm trying to say that as we age, things that worked once might not work again, or at least, not be as effective. I retired from the military so no more running for me but I still loose weight with nothing other than a change in diet. I like weight watchers because you can buy the food in the stores that have the points value on them or use their eating guide to calculate points for food that doesn't come in a box. I have always heard you don't loose as quick with them but they are consistent, in my experience & the wifes, & they've been around forever. Might want to give them a try. Good luck!

Actually I think the best way is to cut off sugar from food. I noticed that a sachet of instant coffee with creamer and sugar contain 90 calories. A sachet of instant coffee with creamer but no sugar contains only 25 calories. The difference is rather huge. For me, I dont have to lose weight yet. However, I tend to shed off a few pounds whenever I develop a cough. That's certainly not the way I like. Just that it is the easiest way to lose weight since I dont have to do anything else.

I was also obese one time in my life for so many years, the only exercise that I had was brisk walking, and I cut my intake on carbohydrates, more fruits and vegetables in my diet and no cola's, I drink juice and plain water only from then I lost a significant amount of weight and now I could walk lightly and I'm more healthy.

Start walking, and gradually increase the pace of your walk with distance. Once you and your body are accustomed to a daily walk start to have a run. Atleast run for 3 minutes a day. Somethings needs to be taken care of like the surface on which you plan to run and the type of shoes you wear for a run. If you cannot control the temptation for food, then include something like cucumbers or simply some fruits to satisfy your hunger pangs. No fast or fatty foods. Hi, Reduce the number of hours you sit in front of the television or for that matter your computer. If you are in a public transport or anyplace try to stand more than to sit. Standing burns more calories. I was growing fat too! recently I had to be with my father who had to have an eye operation. He is diabetic. So the doctors suggested that he needs to bring his blood sugar level down and only after that they will perform the operation. I had seen the sufferings of the other patients in that hospital. Either you sweat out and deprive the body from MOMENTARY pleasures or you get accustomed to numerous needles and medicines for being not able to lead a healthy life. Do I sound like I am preaching?

A good exercise and diet would do. But the most hard thing to be done and implemented is simply discipline. Loosing excess pounds is healthy and everyone should be on it. Go to the gym, have fun with friends and don't stay stagnant. Dance, play and be happy and the rest follows.

I suggest try eating fruits specially those fruits that are rich in vitamin C. Since they are rich in acids, it will always send you to the toilet. But of course minimized your input of fatty foods, and try to exercise. Good luck

I've never been overweight, but what never makes me to turn to a one(as I tend to gain weight very quickly and I love eating)is that I always consider some points. -It's not fat which makes us fat, but carbohydrates.your body can remove fat even easier that protein and ofcourse carbohydrate -never eat after 6 p.m. no carbohydrates(bread, rice...)for dinner. -try to eat dangerous things you like (carbohydrate, sugar etc.)mornings. so your body has time to burn them. -drink cold water. your body consumes energy in order to warm it up. -as you mentioned exercise is so important, but depends totally on what you choose to do. cardio is the best way, as it forces the body to change...that's why losing weight through walking is absurd. some good ones to burn big calories: Tae bo- Billy blanks turbo Jam Jilian Michael programs good luck

I want to share some tips, I hope this will be helpful for you: Try any of the following: 1. Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins 2. Green tea - a cup a day, I found it effective. 3. Take 2-4 tablespoon of Virgin Coconut Oil a day. 4. Oatmeal diet - this is my dinner. 5. Avoid eating carbo for dinner, eat fruits and veggies instead. I still have to think some more and go back here again
