Why do cats wag / move the tail?

Ofcourse its known that cats show their mood and communicate with other cats by tail.Are there other things they show with their tail ?

If they're nervous they'll move it around a lot. And they also use it to be nice to the one who will feed them next second(me). But in general they also use it for balance.
