Importance and scope of website development using JOOMLA

Hello everyone!! :)
I'm currently working on developing some JOOMLA skills. My questions is for all those who know anything about Joomla. How important is Joomla cms and do you recommend learning Joomla or is there any better option. How did you find Joomla for you??

If you are a professional web developer, you need to be acquainted with all the leading technologies. So, it's not an issue anymore whether to use or not to use Joomla, Drupal or WordPress. I actually just install them all in my domain.
But because of the ease of set up and because of familiarity, I chose to use WordPress Mu in the root so I'll be installing Joomla in a sub-domain. I haven't decided yet what use I'd like to assign to my Joomla installation. As for Drupal, I'll be installing it in another domain and it will be the root application.

You are right for most of the part but I disagree with using WordPress as a root application and Joomla as a secondary on the sub-domain. My disagreement is due to the professional outlook of Joomla as compared to WordPress and also its flexibility. Instead, I would like a small button of "Blog" on Joomla main page targeting the sub-domain on which WordPress is installed. ?
